Most Common Car Problems

Do you own a car? Most people who own cars will always discover that they will come across several problems. Even though the car is highly maintained, at times, it will give in to the environment. However, most of the times, the car encounters problems because of poor service, or lack of it. Therefore, the first step to take in order to ensure that your car does not have problems is giving it regular service. Nevertheless, cars will usually encounter many common problems. I will tell you all about the most common problems and I will give you free advice on how to overcome these problems.

When your car is not starting

This common problem affects many cars. You wake up one morning planning to go to work, you are trying to start your car and it refuses. The causes of such a problem may be the cold weather, ignition problems, or a dead battery. It is natural for cars to resist a start during cold weather. The cold weather makes the gas and oil to freeze. With the oil and gas frozen, the engine will find it hard to burn the gas to get the required energy.

The best solution is to buy “dry gas” or “gas line antifreeze”. It lowers the freezing point of the oil or gas. However, if your problem is a dead battery you will need to buy a new one. If the problem is in the ignition, the best method is to take it to a garage so that certified mechanics will repair it.

Battery does not have enough power

At times, after working for a long time with a battery, it will start giving in. It will lose power and will not have enough power to start the car. At other times, you may have left the car lights on overnight only to find that there is no more power in the battery. When you are in such predicaments, know that there are solutions.

One of the solutions is to push the car for a jump-start. Pushing the car as you turn the ignition key starts the engine directly without use of the battery. Once the engine is running, it will recharge the battery. Another method that is used is to connect your cars battery with another car’s battery directly. Starting the other car will help to charge your battery using its battery. This is a faster method when there is no one to help push your car for a jump-start.

The car is emitting smoke

It is not always that a car is in good health. A car can emit smoke and you will wonder what is wrong. There are different types of smoke that a car can emit. The different colors will indicate different types of solutions.

Black smoke may mean that the choke or air-filter needs a replacement. It may also mean that the fuel injector is leaking and the car will need service. When there is grey or blue smoke, the car may have damaged pistons or a valve problem. If the car emits white smoke, then know that the cylinder head or the engine block might need a replacement.
